The opening is at 7:00 p.m., and the public is invited to attend.

In 2003 until the present, he has shown regularly at Argyle Fine Art in Halifax. His work, while always grounded in a representational style, has explored a variety of subjects and techniques ranging from meticulously detailed landscapes and figures, to more recently, monochromatic minimalist landscapes and seascapes, and to some of his recent work in which he has been exploring a more painterly approach using thicker paint to portray forest scenes. The Nova Scotian Landscape and Seascape often serve as an emotional starting point as he paints images that he remembers of places visited, or dreamed. He does not consider himself a formal landscape painter as he chooses the comfort of the studio and to use his imagination as reference for these works, as opposed to the discipline of painting on location, or with the use of photography. These works are not a thorough examination of the natural world but more of a sketch, a brainstorm that becomes filled in later and, where the absence of objects, colour, light, or backgrounds are often offset by the mystery of shadows, or suggested or limited elements

Back by popular demand, Argyle Fine Art is proud to present the Pre-Shrunk show again this year….but with a twist! Throughout the months of November and December, purchase a special PRE-SHRUNK voucher for just $175. The first 50 sold will be numbered from 1 to 50, giving those guests a numerical advantage to selection! The number entitles you to the order that you can select works, however if you live at a distance or can’t be at the opening reception on Friday, January 29th…you can select a piece from our website and we at the gallery can act as your proxy or you can send someone on your behalf. Simply bring your voucher to the show and cash it in for an original work measuring 4” x 5” that you or your gift receiver can choose for themselves. The opening reception will be lots of fun, with food and music happening on Friday, January 29th, 7pm-9pm, and will be a sure way to fight the after holiday blues and winter blahs away!
